Crabbing in the Rupert harbour can be done all year round. The crabs found here are the Dungeness and they are very tasty. I find the best months for these delicacies are October to May. The summer months can be good but the heavy pressure from the charter fleet can make it a little slow. I will set traps every day in different places up and down the harbour and check them at the end of the trip.
The winter months can be very good for the large crabs. Combined with a little salmon fishing for feeder Chinooks you can expect a good day on the water without ever leaving the harbour.
